4 Pics 1 Word – Practise your vocabulary

photo(1)Welcome to this week’s post. Let me introduce you to my latest favourite app: 4 Pics 1 Word.

I found out about 4 Pics 1 Word through a friend on Facebook and have since become a little addicted to it. It’s great fun and a nice way for students to practise vocabulary whilst having some fun – in fact teachers enjoy it too :-) And the best thing is, it’s free!

This is how it works: You get four pictures. You need to find out what they have in common. What’s the same in all four pictures? It has to be one word only. You need to form the words with the letters under the pictures. Easy!

For example: Have a look at the four pictures on the left. What’s the same in all four pictures? The men are …., the women is packing some …, the guy is holding a … Got it? B …. Yes, it’s ‘box’! Bravo! Remember, some words in English have the same spelling but a different meaning. So be careful!

Most of the words are quite simple but sometimes they can be a little tricky. If you can’t guess the word, you can get some help but that costs you coins. Warning: You might find yourself lying in bed at 1am and you can’t go to sleep because you haven’t found the word!

Check out some more examples in the picture gallery. You can download 4 Pics 1 Word for free from the App Store – have fun!
